The General Election takes place on Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
It seems like a long time away right now, but time passes quickly.
REGISTER
Make sure you’re registered to vote! The easiest way to register is online. You may register online until Sunday, October 18 — but to be safe, please consider completing the process by Friday, October 16. You are allowed in-person voter registration up to and including Election Day.
The last day for paper registration: October 6, 2026
The last day for online registration: October 18, 2026
Extra grace period for in-person registration & voting: October 7, 2026 through election day
VOTE BY MAIL
Applications for voting by mail are available now! The last day your vote by mail application will be accepted is Thursday, October 29. Once you have your ballot, you can mail it in beginning Thursday, September 24. It must be postmarked no later than November 3 (that’s Election Day) and must be received within 14 days of the election.
We strongly encourage you to drop off your mail-in ballot at the drop box or courthouse. You can also sign the back of the envelope and have someone deliver it for you. DO NOT trust the USPS to deliver your ballot on time. This election is too important to take any chances on a ballot not being delivered or counted.
EARLY VOTING
Early voting in-person or by mail begins on Thursday, September 24 and ends Monday, November 2. Cast your vote in person at the Bureau County Courthouse, 700 S. Main in Princeton, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm. Refer to the chart below for additional information. Any changes to this schedule will be updated here. The election authority must post early voting locations no later than September 14, 2026.
