Spend a few minutes googling the phrase “constitutional crisis” and you’ll find news organizations and human rights groups all over the globe wondering if the Trump 2.0 administration has forced the country into this foundationally disastrous situation. Our thoughts? The debate is pointless. Our country is in deep trouble no matter what you call it.
In less than 100 days our Dear Leader has shredded the US Constitution he has sworn to uphold. Just a few examples:
He has attempted, with his executive orders, to bypass 14th Amendment citizenship rights. He has swallowed up the Constitutionally-guaranteed powers of Congress to establish, govern and fund independent agencies.
He has denied due process to hundreds of immigrants who are in the US legally and have committed no crimes while taking full advantage of his own right to due process. Under his direction ICE and the DOJ have revoked valid visas and summarily deported students for reasons unfounded, unexplained or inaccurate.
He has attempted to squash the 1st Amendment rights of protestors. He has removed funding from countless programs because their stated focus includes verboten words and phrases like “DEI” and “equity.” And he has silenced dissent across schools and universities, government departments and the private sector.
